Volt Cyprus announces candidates for EU elections with Makarios Drousiotis featuring

The newly created progressive centrist party Volt Cyprus announced its candidates for the upcoming June European Parliament elections on Saturday.

The selection was made through an internal ballot which took place online, during which party members had the opportunity to pose their questions to Volt’s executive office.

The process started at 10 a.m. and the electoral list was approved overwhelmingly by the members, an announcement by the party said.

Among the individuals featured on Volt’s ballot, the name of journalist and former presidential aide-turned-whistleblower Makarios Drousiotis stands out.

The party’s co-vice president Andromache Sophocleous, as well as its secretary general Hulusi Kilim, will also stand as candidates in June.

The six Volt candidates for the EU elections are as follows:

  • Andromache Sophocleous, political analyst
  • Hulusi Kilim, activist
  • Lysia Demetriou, clinical researcher
  • Makarios Drousiotis, investigative journalist
  • Nicholas Kyriakou, lawyer
  • Sophia Vasileiou, researcher
