The government welcomes with satisfaction the Progress Report of the Moneyval Committee of the Council of Europe, which records, as stated in a Presidency announcement, the significant progress, improvement, and compliance of the Republic of Cyprus with regard to its recommendations for combating money laundering and terrorism financing.
In particular, the Presidency announcement continues, it is significant that Moneyval observes that the Republic of Cyprus has achieved the general expectation and has corrected and complied with the overwhelming majority of international standards for combating money laundering and illegal financing of terrorism by 2023.
Finally, the announcement states that the government emphasizes its unwavering commitment to the continuous compliance of the Republic of Cyprus with international standards and the necessary measures taken wherever required to ensure that our country meets all international standards regarding the fight against money laundering, as well as combating terrorism financing.
