The Democratic Rally (DISY) also launches an attack on Marios Pelekanos for his decision to join the European Parliament ballot of ELAM, accusing him of cheap tactics for vote fishing that bolster AKEL.
In their statement, the Democratic Rally notes, among other things, that until the day before yesterday Marios Pelekanos was opposing ELAM in the media, expressing regret for his decision to disappoint those who trusted him.
Concluding, they note that Marios Pelekanos is automatically removed from the party’s membership list.
The statement of the Democratic Rally reads as follows:
“In the Democratic Rally, we are well aware of our principles and values, and what distinguishes us from other political forces. Regarding Democracy, Europe, the Cyprus issue, individual freedoms, the economy, and society, we remain faithful to our founding declaration.
With ELAM, as well as with AKEL, we have insurmountable political and ideological differences.
Until the day before yesterday, Marios Pelekanos was opposing ELAM in the media. We regret that today he decided, for personal reasons, to disappoint those who trusted him.
The cheap tactics of ELAM for temporary vote fishing essentially bolster AKEL.
The alert members of our party know very well how to protect their faction. With the strength of its thousands of members, the Democratic Rally will once again be the leading and protagonist force of the country.
As in every case where a member of ours runs as a candidate with another party, Mr. Pelekanos is automatically removed from the party’s membership list.”
