The party’s president, Annita Demetriou, issued the first reaction, criticising the inclusion of the resigned vice-president of DISY, Marios Pelekanos, on the ELAM ballot for the European elections.
Here is Annita Dimitriou’s post:
“Our founder and the tens of thousands of competitors who made Democratic Rally a leading force in the country taught us to view the party as a field of contribution, not as a vehicle for personal ambitions.
We must follow their example. To harness Democratic Rally to give, not to take.
These tens of thousands of competitors in the cities and communities will henceforth become a shield against any kind of undermining, against any kind of plan that attempts to destroy what they have built with effort. Those who underestimate their intelligence, betray their trust, and exploit their tolerance make a fatal mistake.
The Democratic Rally will always stand against the anti-European populism of the extremes. And in the showdown on June 9th, with its ideas and positions, it will emerge victorious and stronger.”
