Two arrested for cannabis in Limassol

Yesterday, members of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) located a quantity of cannabis with a total weight of 80 grams during a search of an apartment in Limassol.

The Police are investigating a case of illegal drug possession with the intent to supply to another person and money laundering from illegal activities. Two individuals were arrested to facilitate the investigations.

The YKAN investigation at the apartment was conducted yesterday afternoon, under a judicial warrant obtained after evaluating specific information. Present during the search were the two tenants of the apartment, aged 27 and 26.

During the search, in the bedroom of the 27-year-old, a nylon package containing approximately 78 grams of cannabis was found and seized.

In the bedroom of the 26-year-old, another nylon package containing approximately 2 grams of cannabis was found and seized, along with a grinder containing a small amount of cannabis.

The two tenants were arrested for an on-the-spot offence and taken to the offices of the district YKAN in Limassol. After questioning, the 26-year-old was charged in writing and released pending a court summons, while the 27-year-old was detained to facilitate further inquiries.
