Today, Marios Pelekanos sent a letter of resignation from the bodies of DISY to the president of DISY.

He is running as a candidate with ELAM in the upcoming European elections.

In a statement, Marios Pelekanos, as a candidate for ELAM, notes that he responded to ELAM’s call for a joint effort to address the challenges faced by the Greek Cypriot community.

“Joining ELAM is based on my longstanding positions on crucial issues for every Greek Cypriot, such as migration, demographics, and the promotion of economic policies in favour of vulnerable population groups.

Once again, I would like to sincerely thank all those who stood by me over the years, supporting our shared positions, views, and concerns.

We continue our efforts with the same logic,” he concludes.

In its announcement, ELAM states:

In response to ELAM’s call for a joint effort to tackle the challenges faced by the Greek Cypriot community, Mr. Marios Pelekanos has responded. Our party’s vision is the alliance of all citizens who share our common concerns regarding serious national issues our country faces, such as the Cyprus issue, demographics, and migration. Also high on our agenda are the challenges Cyprus faces in terms of economy and the accuracy that afflicts our fellow citizens.

For all the above reasons, Mr. Marios Pelekanos is included on the ELAM ballot for the upcoming European elections, following a decision by the party’s Political Council. In the consultations that preceded with Mr. Pelekanos, the prospect of cooperation based on common perceptions and positions became apparent.

The purpose of his inclusion is for ELAM to promote Cyprus’s interests in Europe, through the participation of our faction in the European Conservatives and Reformists Party (ECR).
