Relevant News

The Archbishop of Cyprus, Georgios, said they are constantly working to clarify the issue of the Monastery of Saint Habakkuk.

Responding to questions from journalists upon his arrival at the press conference for the 39th Marathon of Love for the Missing, the Archbishop was asked when the investigation process regarding the Monastery of Sant Habakkuk would be completed.

“I don’t know when it will be finished,” he said.

However, he added, “I do know that they are working continuously and that whenever a witness suggests something that requires investigation, they call other witnesses as well. So, my clear instructions, which are also instructions from the Holy Synod, are for this case to be fully clarified and for anything else related to either irregularities or something that is not going well in the Church of Cyprus.”

He noted that this is a “beginning that needs to continue for the clarification and investigation of all aspects.”

Asked about the testimonies of the monks regarding the money found, the Archbishop said, “I will not get involved in the trial process. When they are investigated, the conclusion will come, and that investigative conclusion will be sent to the six-member committee, and the discussion will take place from there.”

He also said in response to another question that the Police visited him and asked him certain things.
