Exhibition of Christian Bertram “Drawings on Cigarette Packs”

Relevant News

The 6th solo exhibition of Christian V. Bertram in Cyprus, titled “Drawings on Cigarette Packs,” will be presented by Gloria Gallery starting Thursday, February 15th.

His work is part of the European tradition of drawing as an independent art form and depicts Greek everyday life with an expressionistic perspective.

The drawings on cigarette packs in this exhibition are also the result of his effort to ensure that passersby or café patrons do not realize that someone is drawing them, preserving the spontaneity of the moment: the cigarette pack not only fits in the palm but also has a lid.

Bertram, who is not bound by the trends of his time, emphasizes the human form and, without limiting himself to a purely descriptive representation, focuses on the search for an inner essence.

Christian Bertram was born in Hamburg in 1939. In 1970, he graduated from the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg, where he studied drawing, painting, graphic arts, and printmaking. In 1974, he settled in Greece, and since 2000, he has lived and worked in Cyprus.
