A 77 year old woman died and another 36 people tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday in the Republic of Cyprus bringing the total number of deaths to ten and the total number of confirmed cases to 356 (including ten in the British Bases).
Four more tested positive in the Turkish-held north, bringing its total to 81. Two German tourists have also died there from the virus.
Thankfully there are some good news at Paphos hospital, where dialysis patients tested negative for Coronavirus, and in Nicosia too where a baby born to a Covid-positive mother tested negative to the virus.
Meanwhile, sample-taking has started in Aradippou on Friday via drive through, as the Health Ministry increasingly focuses on the community which has so far reported the disproportionately high number of 39 Coronavirus positive cases.
Yesterday its mayor said that Aradippou residents were embarrassed to report symptoms fearing what their family and social circle might say, a taboo the mayor wishes to eliminate.
Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou in a new decree published yesterday set out criteria for the repatriation of some categories of Cypriots stranded abroad.
He also said separately on Facebook that he shares peoples’ concerns as he too has a family, parents and children, and called for the public’s understanding and cooperation with the measures.

At the same time, police booked 299 drivers and pedestrians overnight for breaking the lockdown decree and a 24 year old Paphos resident was fined €350 by the Paphos district court for the same.
