299 booked for breaking stay at home decree

Police booked 299 drivers and pedestrians overnight for breaking the stay at home decree introduced as part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.

A police spokesman told the Cyprus News Agency that 8431 checks  were carried out between 6 pm on Thursday and 6 am on Friday.

The breakdown was:

Nicosia: 5000 checks, 79 booked

Limassol: 2878 checks, 77 booked

Larnaca: 2569 checks, 53 booked

Paphos: 3812 checks, 30 booked

Famagusta: 1937 checks, 47  booked

Morphou: 947 checks, 2 booked

Police HQ traffic unit: 868 checks,  11 booked

MMAD: 92 checks

So far, up until this morning police carried out 105,994 checks and 3301.
