A small Qatari delegation arrived in Israel today aiming to ensure the ongoing adherence to the agreement between Israel and Hamas regarding the exchange of hostages and prisoners, as well as the ceasefire, Israeli media reported.
An aircraft, carrying members of the Qatari delegation, earlier today landed at Israel’s Ben-Gurion Airport. The plane had departed from Larnaca, according to the Israeli public broadcaster Kan.
A diplomat with knowledge of the visit confirmed the delegation’s arrival to the German Press Agency (dpa).
One of the diplomats from the Qatari delegation emphasized that the team traveled to Israel to ensure the smooth implementation of the agreement.
They are expected to discuss further steps for the implementation of the agreement between Israel and Hamas, as well as with mediators in Doha.
Qatar and Egypt are considered significant mediators in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Qatar maintains close and extensive contacts with the Islamist organization, though the Gulf nation does not have official diplomatic relations with Israel.
