The issues and delays in the implementation of various projects underway or under consideration in the province of Paphos were examined this afternoon by the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Works.

Alexis Vafeades visited Paphos at a time when there is growing concern about the progress of vital projects in the province, such as the first phase of the new Paphos-Polis road, the Paphos airport road, the province’s marina, and others.

These matters were raised in a meeting the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Works had with the Paphos Chamber of Commerce at the Chamber’s offices.

Vafeades also toured the sites where the new public transportation stations of Paphos were recently completed, in Karavella and the tourist area, following complaints from stakeholders that there were problematic progress and they are not as functional as expected.

In statements after the meeting, the minister emphasized that the Government is committed and determined to resolve all the problems and pending issues that exist, always, however, as he observed, within the framework of what serves the public interest.

The Minister of Transport, Communications, and Works also met with the leadership of the Police Directorate, during which issues were discussed that will contribute to the traffic upgrading of areas in the city and facilitate traffic flow in points of the road network.

In particular, the creation of a roundabout in front of the entrance of the Police Directorate buildings and the installation of traffic lights at the intersection next to the Gymnasium of Apostle Andreas in Empa were discussed.

The responsible minister noted that he positively views both requests, and developments are expected shortly.
