Police arrest two for illegal residence and work

Last night, the police in Paphos made two arrests in cases related to illegal employment and residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, according to Assistant Police Director of Operations in Paphos, Michalis Nicolaou.

In the first instance, around 21:10, members of the Aliens and Immigration Service (AIS), following an evaluation of information, visited an internet cafe in Paphos where they found a young man, aged 22, working illegally.

Upon investigation, it was found that the young man had been residing illegally in Cyprus since March 24, 2023. He was arrested and taken to Paphos Police Station where he is currently detained.

A short time later, specifically at 21:50, AIS members located a 44-year-old woman working illegally in a bakery in Paphos.

An inspection revealed that she had been residing illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus since November 15, 2022. She was arrested and taken to Paphos Police Station where she is held.

At Paphos Police Station, the employers of both detainees were summoned for these cases, the first being a 40-year-old and the second a 35-year-old from Cyprus.
