Police in Paphos have arrested a licensed fireworks professional suspected of starting a wildfire near Kouklia on Wednesday evening.
The fire, which burned 10 hectares of land, occurred amidst strong winds in the area.
The professional was reportedly involved in a fireworks display at a nearby tourist complex.
The Environment Minister is considering revoking fireworks display licenses following the incident, a move supported by some residents who view the displays as a nuisance.
Firefighters battled the blaze for four hours in difficult conditions, with strong winds and inaccessible terrain hindering their efforts.
The fire broke out near the Petra tou Romiou monument and luxury tourist developments.
