Nicosia municipality declares buildings dangerous after inspections

Relevant News

The Nicosia Municipality has declared a number of buildings as dangerous within the framework of inspections conducted on constructions, especially in areas of special character, and maintains a registry of dangerous buildings, as well as following complaints from citizens.

“Buildings that present problems are inspected by trained engineers/technicians, who determine if there is indeed a danger that could cause harm to residents, passers-by, or even illegal entrants. Then the buildings are declared ‘dangerous’ according to Cypriot legislation,” the Nicosia Municipality stated in an announcement.

The Municipality calls on the owners of buildings that have been declared as dangerous to immediately contact the Technical Service of the Nicosia Municipality at phone numbers 22797484, -554 and to take all necessary measures to remove the danger.

Otherwise, the Municipality states that it may autonomously enter the building, taking all measures to eliminate the risk, and/or impose an administrative fine of up to €20,000, and/or initiate a criminal case.
