Relevant News

A new political party named ‘Volt Cyprus‘ is set to be unveiled tomorrow in Nicosia.

The party is the result of a merger between the movements ‘New Wave – The Other Cyprus’ and ‘Famagusta for Cyprus.’

‘Volt Cyprus’ will be unveiled at 12 p.m. during a press conference at the Journalists’ House in Nicosia.

“The new and dynamic political party of our country is part of Volt Europa, a pan-European, progressive and pragmatic movement which aims at a democratic, egalitarian, just and really united Europe, for all its citizens,” an official announcement said.

Volt Europa is a pan-European, progressive centrist, European federalist political formation. Since 2019 it has been active as an umbrella for subsidiary parties of the same name and branding in all EU member states and other non-EU states (such as the UK, Switzerland, and Ukraine).

Being strongly in favour of further European integration, it endorses a European army, joint European debt and taxes, as well as stronger economic solidarity between the member states.

It ran in the European Elections in 2019 for the first time with a cross-border election campaign, electing German business consultant and journalist Damian Boeselager as an MEP.

Volt Europa’s subsidiary parties also hold parliamentary seats in Bulgaria and the Netherlands.
