Relevant News

Famagusta District Court has detained a 31-year-old man in connection with a bombing at the popular Nava nightclub in Protaras.

The man is suspected of involvement in the 22 March attack on the nightclub in the Pernera area, which caused extensive damage but no injuries.

The suspect faces charges including conspiracy to commit a felony, attempted destruction of property with explosive materials, and the illegal possession, transportation, and use of explosives, police said in a statement.

He was arrested by officers from the Famagusta District Court, who were granted a detention order for eight days, following an investigation into the incident.

Police said they had identified the suspect, who has a previous history with law enforcement, through a combination of intelligence gathering and analysis of closed-circuit television footage.

The bombing, which took place just before the summer season, when the club was closed, involved a low-power, improvised explosive device that was detonated outside the venue, causing significant damage.
