Kiosk thief handed five-year sentence

Relevant News

Just 48 hours after an armed robbery at a kiosk in Chloraka, the same kiosk was targeted again by the same perpetrator.

This unusual practice of the thief ultimately resulted in a five-year imprisonment, which was imposed today by the Paphos Criminal Court on the 24-year-old of African descent who was found to be the perpetrator of both robberies of the same establishment.

The dual robbery took place on the 8th and 10th of March 2023 using exactly the same methodology, prompting the police from the outset to estimate that the robber was the same individual.

In both instances, the unknown man, wearing a hood and black clothes, entered the kiosk and pointed a pistol at the cashier, which was eventually discovered to be a replica, stealing cash amounts of €300 and €400 respectively before fleeing on foot. As stated in her deposition to the police, the 24-hour kiosk employee identified the individual as the same person.

In the subsequent days, the police arrested the 24-year-old based on evidence that emerged, including visual material, and placed him in custody. Upon completion of the investigations, he was referred to the Criminal Court.
