Relevant News

The Government will take all necessary actions as soon as possible regarding the incident in Rizokarpaso, stated today by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis.

Earlier this week, members of the occupying administration searched Greek Cypriot schools in the Karpas peninsula and interrogated teachers.

In his remarks to journalists at the Presidential Palace after the Council of Ministers meeting, the Spokesperson, when asked about the actions of the administration of the occupied territories in Rizokarpaso and the Government’s response, said, “The Government’s actions were immediate from the beginning, we have been briefed, all the facts are being investigated, and we will take all necessary actions as soon as possible.”

Asked to comment on information about a new incident with the occupation army in Achna, the Spokesperson said, “The information is being investigated to determine their validity.”

On being asked if there is any update on the issue of the Pyla, the Spokesperson responded negatively, adding, “We are in contact with the peacekeeping force on every occasion, and we reiterate what we have said from the beginning that the full implementation of all provisions of the Agreement is beneficial to both communities.”

Asked if Maria Angela Holguín Cuéllar has discussed the Agreement during her contacts, the Spokesperson said, “Holguín’s contacts were more to be informed about the positions of the two sides. We await the 11th of March, which will be the first meeting with the President to further discuss the issues. It is a matter that the President of the Republic himself has personally conveyed and repeatedly expressed his position on the benefits that will result from the implementation of the Agreement.”

Asked if Holguín will travel to other European cities besides London, the Spokesperson said, “It was something in Holguín’s thoughts, her program of which is officially announced by the United Nations, however, within the framework of her contacts, this intention existed on her part.”
