A wildfire that erupted Wednesday evening in the Ha-Potami area of Paphos has been brought under control, authorities confirmed.
The blaze burned approximately 4-5 hectares of dry grass and wild vegetation.
The fire broke out around 20:05 in a difficult-to-access area near Aphrodite Hills, said Michalis Nicolaou, Paphos Police Operations Assistant Director.
Firefighting efforts involved units from the Fire Service, the Department of Forests, and the Game Fund, as well as residents operating agricultural machinery.
The fire was declared under control around 23:50, Nicolaou stated.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway, with fireworks suspected as a potential ignition source.
