A fire broke out this afternoon in a block of flats in Limassol.
According to the Fire Department spokesperson, Andreas Kettis, the fire started around 13:13 in a room on the second floor of a three-storey apartment building, specifically on a sofa.
Two fire trucks from the Agios Nikolaos Limassol Station rushed to the scene, the crew of which entered the apartment with breathing apparatus and extinguished the fire. Household equipment in the room was affected by the fire, and there was also damage to the room’s wall from the hot gases and smoke.
The homeowner had evacuated the premises before the Fire Department arrived. Kettis noted that the fire was caused by smoking materials.
