DISY MP calls for abolition of €350 tax on businesses

Relevant News

The €350 tax on companies, described by DISY MP Kyriakos Hatzigiannis as a remnant of the economic crisis of 2013, must be abolished, he announced.

In his statements today, the DISY MP stated, “It is finally time to abolish the annual fee of €350 imposed on companies. Since all the other measures provided by the memorandum following the economic crisis of 2013 have been abolished, the €350 tax must also cease to be imposed.”

He notes that during discussions in the trade committee, the government’s justification was expressed that these amounts are calculated in the state budget, and the immediate abolition of the €350 fee would create a deficit.

He emphasizes that this justification can no longer be accepted, as the proposal for a gradual reduction of the amount until its final elimination provides the government with the opportunity to offset the amounts it will lose from the fair abolition of the €350 fee.

Taking a stance against AKEL’s position, which is “obstructive and misleading regarding the abolition of the fee. After initially submitting an impractical bill, it then hinders the process for the final discussion and vote in the plenary of the proposals concerning the issue of €350. By doing so, it assists the government’s effort to maintain corporate tax.”
