Briton jailed for causing death of Paphos resident by dangerous driving

Relevant News

A 45-year-old British man has been sentenced to one year in prison by the Paphos Assize Court for causing the death of Ioannis Polykarpou, 58 in a 2023 road collision.

The incident occurred in the early hours of January 21, 2023, on Tomb of Kings Avenue in Paphos.

Polykarpou was fatally injured while riding his moped when the car driven by the defendant struck him.

The man pleaded guilty to charges of reckless or dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

The initial charge of attempted murder was dropped by the Attorney General due to the defendant’s immediate admission of guilt and his lack of a criminal record.
