Attempted murder victim fights for life in Nicosia hospital

Relevant News

34-year-old Dimitris Andronikou, also known as “Dimitroui”, is being treated in critical condition in the intensive care unit of Nicosia General Hospital following an attempted murder against him that took place yesterday in Anthoupoli.

The 34-year-old sustained a total of three gunshot wounds and, after a lengthy surgical operation, remains in a critical state, fighting for his life.

Police investigations to clarify the crime are in full swing, and recent cases have been opened where either the 34-year-old was called in for testimony or because he was acquainted with the suspects.

As we reported yesterday, “Dimitroui” had visited Lakatamia police station before the attempted murder to visit two friends of his who are detained as suspects for the arson of two betting agencies last week in Nicosia, both belonging to the same company.

It is also being investigated whether he is in any way connected to the recent bomb explosion at a nightclub in Ayia Napa.

Nicosia CID investigations have yielded significant evidence, and under scrutiny are the three 9mm cartridge cases found at the scene.

Additionally, video footage has been obtained from a nearby area showing the two perpetrators fleeing the scene. However, the helmets they wore obscured their faces, making identification difficult.

There is, however, a photograph of the motorcycle-scooter they were riding, and the Police are turning to the importers of such models for information.

It is noted that authorities are also investigating the relationship between the attempted murder victim and the deceased Alexis Mavromichalis.

Incidentally, three eyewitnesses either saw or arrived first at the scene of the attempted murder but did not provide details about the perpetrators, due to the helmets covering their faces.
