“Targeted measures are being used to address the rise in fuel prices,” said Finance Minister Makis Keravnos on Saturday.
Speaking at a conference on “The Future of Business and Adapting to a Changing Landscape”, organised by CIM-Cyprus Business School at the headquarters of the Bank of Cyprus in Nicosia, Keravnos was asked about the issue of rising prices, especially fuel prices.
“This issue is being addressed through targeted measures, by strengthening the incomes of the middle class, but also by prioritising vulnerable groups,” he said, referring to the actions the government intends to take.
“Beyond that,” he added, “we must understand that this is a European issue, an issue arising from the wars and geopolitical developments in our region.”
At the same time, he pointed out, “the Government is proceeding with other measures to tackle this issue effectively.”
