The Minister of Transport, Alexis Vafiadis, presented the initiation of the third electric vehicle subsidy scheme, which aims to reduce emissions and pollution.
The project, with a total budget of €53 million (available amount €36.5 million), is funded by the EU and will start on February 17, 2024.
It concerns electrification in privately owned vehicles (including large families and disabled individuals), taxis, small buses, motorcycles, small vehicles, and bicycles.
The subsidy includes:
Purchase of zero-emission CO2 vehicles (purely electric vehicles).
Withdrawal of old polluting vehicles in combination with the subsidy for the purchase of low-carbon dioxide emission vehicles (with a CO2 emission limit of 50g/km).
Withdrawal of old polluting vehicles in combination with the provision of bus tickets and payment of a supplementary lump sum.
Purchase of electric bicycles (assisted pedaling).
For privately owned vehicles:
1,228 subsidies of €7,500 will be provided for the withdrawal and replacement of a new low CO2 emission vehicle (up to 50 g/km).
1,827 subsidies of €9,000 will be provided for a new zero-emission CO2 vehicle.
104 subsidies of €9,000 will be provided for a used zero-emission CO2 vehicle.
The maximum purchase price for new low CO2 emission cars and purely electric ones (including VAT) is €80,000 and €35,000 (including VAT) for used purely electric cars – maximum purchase price.
For taxis:
30 subsidies of €12,000 will be provided for the withdrawal and replacement of a new low CO2 emission vehicle (up to 50 g/km).
60 subsidies of €9,000 will be provided for the purchase of a new zero-emission CO2 vehicle.
Recipients of disability vehicles:
30 subsidies of €15,000 will be provided for the withdrawal and replacement of a new low CO2 emission vehicle (up to 50 g/km).
60 subsidies of €20,000 will be provided for the purchase of a new zero-emission CO2 vehicle.
Large families:
30 subsidies of €15,000 will be provided for the withdrawal and replacement of a new low CO2 emission vehicle (up to 50 g/km).
60 subsidies of €20,000 will be provided for the purchase of a new zero-emission CO2 vehicle.
Small buses:
2 subsidies of €40,000 will be provided for the purchase of a new zero-emission CO2 vehicle, category M2 (small bus with more than eight seats beyond the driver and a maximum weight of 5 tons).
Small cars & motorcycles (L6e, L7e, L):
65 subsidies of €4,000 will be provided for the purchase of a new zero-emission CO2 vehicle, such as L6e (sub-category B) and L7e (sub-category C) micro-cars.
893 subsidies of €1,500 will be provided for the purchase of a new zero-emission CO2 motorcycle, type L (except for categories L6e-B, L7e-B, and L7e-C).
Bicycles, withdrawal in exchange for tickets:
933 subsidies of €500 will be provided for a new electric bicycle.
72 subsidies of €750 will be provided for withdrawal in exchange for free bus tickets worth €250 and (for use on buses) ALSO a lump sum of €500.
Applicants can be both natural and legal persons.
Natural persons: 1 application for a car, 1 application for a motorcycle, 1 application for an electric bicycle, and 1 application for free bus tickets.
Legal persons: They are entitled to 20 applications only for new vehicles (cars, micro-cars, and motorcycles) – the rules of minor importance support (de minimis) apply.
