e-kalathi introduced in Greece for electricity prices

Relevant News

In Cyprus, public concerns were expressed, even by MPs and party officials, that the e-kalathi electronic application promoted by the Ministry of Commerce to facilitate price comparisons of basic products in supermarkets would harm competition.

However, in Greece, the launch of a similar price comparison tool was announced yesterday, concerning the charges offered by electricity suppliers.

Specifically, the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Waste, and Water (RAEWW, the corresponding Greek authority to CERA) announced the launch of the new Electricity and Natural Gas Price Comparison Tool on the website www.energycost.gr.

On the platform of the new RAEWW Price Comparison Tool, consumers can easily compare all the electricity and natural gas tariffs commercially available in the Greek market.

The key features of the new RAEWW Price Comparison Tool include:

  • The ability to rank tariffs based on the reduction of all charges to a single, final charge price expressed in euros per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
  • Providing information on additional discounts, benefits, billing methods, and contract terms for each compared tariff.
  • The ability to compare individual electricity or natural gas tariffs or combined products that include both services in one offer.
  • For the first time, consumers can choose from the available list the tariff they already have, even if it is no longer commercially available, and compare it with any other commercially available tariffs they desire.
  • For the first time, consumers can find their tariff by scanning the QR CODE on their bill, eliminating the need to manually enter each characteristic of their tariff.
  • With the same ease, consumers can find their existing tariff by selecting its name from the relevant list.
  • Tariff comparisons can be significantly refined through the detailed filters available in the application.
