Only selected supermarkets obliged to disclose prices on e-kalathi platform

Relevant News

Significant changes have been made in relation to the e-kalathi platform.

The e-kalathi platform’s aim is to ensure that consumers have access to accurate and comparable information when shopping online.

In a recent decision, members of the parliamentary trade committee have concluded that only supermarkets will be required to display product prices on the e-kalathi electronic platform.

During previous discussions held in the committee, there were suggestions to include both kiosks and bakeries on the platform.

Simultaneously, during today’s session, a decision was made to increase the business turnover threshold for supermarkets participating in e-kalathi to €5 million, up from the government-proposed €2 million.

Finally, it was decided that the price comparison of products on the platform would be based on their codes (based on their identification) rather than their names.

It is estimated that initially, 350 products will be included in e-kalathi.
