Relevant News

Around the summer of 2024, the digital platform e-kalathi will be launched. The platform aims to provide consumers daily with the necessary transparency and direct information on the prices of basic products.

In a statement, Konstantinos Karagiorgis, Director of the Consumer Protection Service, said that following the approval of the relevant bill and after the publication of the law in the official gazette, the Service will proceed immediately with the call for tender.

The tender is estimated to be completed within two months from the date of publication, followed by a period of 3 to 5 months to complete the necessary processes. “Therefore, the estimate is that the platform will be implemented around summer,” he added.

He explained that “e-kalathi” will involve an application on mobile phones and tablets (android and iOS) and also a web-based application accessible through a computer.

Our goal, Karagiorgis noted, “is that, especially in times of crisis, the consumer will have a tool at his disposal that provides transparency and direct information daily so that he can make the most advantageous choices depending on his financial status”.

Concerning the products that will be included in the platform, Karagiorgis said that the products selected will be those with the highest demand and weight in the household basket, based on statistical data, and will be included in the decree expected to be issued by the Minister of Commerce.
