A pancyprian congress during which the new leadership of socialist Edek will also be voted in is on track, party leader Marinos Sizopoulos who is being under attack by a large number of members has said.
Sizopoulos is currently facing financial mismanagement allegations and is accused of destroying the party’s credibility, turning it into an object of ridicule.
On Wednesday, Secretary of the party’s Central Committee Michalis Terepei strongly denounced in a letter such plans even though the leadership’s term in office ends early in May.
The meeting of the Central Committee which was scheduled for Thursday, was postponed for today, Friday, due to lack of quorum –Â the minimum number of people needed to hold meetings or take serious decisions.
The hot issue of the party’s electoral congress will be on the agenda of the session on Friday.
