A man who assaulted a police officer who booked his son for breaking the stay at home decree has been jailed for 30 days and fined €700.
The sentence was handed down by Larnaca district court on Friday after it found the 52 year old man guilty of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and failing to comply with decrees aiming to contain the spread of coronavirus, among other offences.
The offences were committed in the Larnaca district on April 1.
The man went rushing to the scene after his 19 year old son telephoned him to say that he had been fined for breaking the stay at home decree and was arrested when he assaulted a police officer
