The Education Ministry said on Friday is calling off school trips abroad in March and April because of the coronavirus outbreak in a number of countries as well as its impact on travel.
It said that school excursions as well as other school trips will not be held in the two months.
“The decision is taken exclusively as a precaution and after consultations with the Health Ministry,” it said.
The Education Ministry added that it is examining the possibility of contributing financially to any penalties that parents may have to pay.
Traditionally a number of schools organised trips to Greece and other European countries over the Easter holidays.
