Long-stalled Pervolia promenade set for revival

Relevant News

After six years of stagnation, primarily due to inaccurate planning estimates, it seems that the Pervolia coastal pedestrian promenade is finally moving towards implementation, a project of crucial importance for the tourist area.

As reported to Phileleftheros by the Pervolia community leader, Kostas Tiggis, the tender for the second phase of the promenade will be announced in the second half of this year, while a public presentation of the project will take place in May, with an estimated cost touching €2 million.

This is a project that has faced numerous challenges over the years.

The first phase of the promenade was completed in 2017, and within the following year, the planning for the second phase was also completed.

However, subsequently, a revision of the design was requested as it was found that the coastal promenade needed to be relocated to safer locations to avoid being within the wave breaking zone.

The fact that the project is now on track for implementation is also evident from a recent response by the Minister of Interior to Larnaca MP, Andreas Pasiourtides, who requested an update on the matter.

According to Ioannou, serious efforts have been made recently to redesign the promenade based on the recommendations of the Department of Environment and the Marine Studies Branch of the Department of Public Works, aiming to address erosion issues and ensure a safe location.

At present, the Town Planning Department is progressing with the completion of the construction/static plans for the project, and once completed, the procedures for preparing tender documents will be initiated.
