John Malkovich coming to Cyprus for one-man play

Relevant News

A new major spectacle, an ambitious theatre experiment, the Cyprus International Theatre Festival, is emerging on the island. The event will showcase a carefully curated selection of theatrical productions — local and international premieres.

The festival aims to foster cross-cultural dialogue to make Cyprus shine as a dynamic hub for the performing arts and a place where theatre will evolve without borders.

The program, much like a melting pot, blends a range of mediums – from avant-garde experimental plays and one-man shows to dance performances and spoken drama. Beyond being a celebration of the performing arts, the CITF transforms into a platform for building connections, encouraging audiences to engage in the parallel program with special events like film screenings, discussions and workshops.

CITF opens at the end of April with the premier of the show Apocalypse Tomorrow (dir. Evgeny Kulagin) by the Berlin-based company Kirill & Friends created by the theatre director, filmmaker and Cannes winner Kirill Serebrennikov.

In May CITF brings the one-man play “The Infamous Ramirez Hoffman” by the American world-famous film and theatre actor John Malkovich. The festival wraps up in early June with shows by Polish theatre director Ivan Vyrypaev, featuring “Mahamaya Electronic Devices” and “World of beautiful Butterflies”, Cypriot director Paris Erotokritou with play “The Only Thing You Need to Know About Derrida” and closes on the 16th of June with “Mitcha Figa The Superfluous Man” by Israeli director Yehezkel Lazarov.

Beyond being a celebration of the performing arts, the CITF transforms into a platform for building connections, encouraging audiences to engage in the parallel programme with special events like master classes, open talks and discussions.
