Director of the children’s ward at Makarios Children Hospital in Nicosia, Avraam Elia, has told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) that the situation of a two and a half year old boy who has been hospitalized for six days at the hospital with Kawasaki disease and COVID-19 has improved.
“The situation is better both as regards the clinical and laboratory findings. The boy is still hospitalized in the pressure unit. We hope that if the situation continues like this he will be dismissed from the hospital by the end of the week,” he added.
The boy had undergone three COVID-19 tests and was found positive at the last one. According to information his father has also been tested positive to the coronavirus but he is asymptomatic.
Elia stressed that Kawasaki disease is not contagious while as regards COVID-19 he noted that children’s symptoms are mild.
