Police have fined a Larnaca venue €8000 for allowing more customers than permitted under the decree to contain the spread of coronavirus — doubling the fine of the previous day for a repeat offence.
The venue was fined €4000 on Saturday night after police who went to check found there were about 350 people there. The decree sets a maximum of 150 outside.
And on Sunday, police were back during the day where they found 250 customers and in line with a new law approved on Friday issued a new fine of twice the previous amount.
Overall police carried out 865 checks of premises islandwide yesterday and reported 14 for violations.
