The Health Ministry on Tuesday urged the public not to stockpile medicine but to buy only what they need.
In a written statement, the ministry said that in recent days members of the public have been rushing to pharmacies to buy large quantities of pharmaceuticals.
It assured there is no reason for concern or to stockpile medicine as the Association of Cyprus Pharmaceutical Companies (SFEK) has made clear there are adequate quantities.
“The Health Ministry urges the public to buy only the quantities of medicine prescribed by their doctors sparingly, so that all together we can ensure that people who genuinely require treatment will have unimpeded access to medicine,” the announcement concluded.
