Officers from Paphos Municipality and Chlorakas local authority as well as of the Interior Ministry’s Immigration Department and Asylum Service have begun the process of registration of those settled in the complex.

This should be completed by Friday and those found to be residing in Cyprus under the status of asylum seekers will be transferred to Kofinou Reception Centre.

That is, the Accommodation Center for Applicants for International Protection which operates under the supervision of the Asylum Service.

And those who are found to be residing with legal status on the island will be given two weeks to find another place to stay. As for the illegal migrants, those will be deported from the Republic, according to government spokesman Constantinos Letymbiotis.

Chorakas residents have demanded immediate and drastic measures related to the influx of illegal migrants in their village where, they argue, anarchy prevails.
