Traffic police report numerous violations in Famagusta

A specialized team of the Traffic Police recorded a series of complaints from bus and truck drivers after 24 hours of inspections in the province of Famagusta.

The inspections were carried out from 06:00 yesterday morning until 06:00 yesterday morning as part of the European Awareness and Enforcement Week of the European Road Traffic Network Roadpol.

The checks were conducted by the Police in cooperation with the Road Transport Department in the province of Famagusta, with the participation of members of the Traffic Department Headquarters, including specialized members of the Inspection Engineer’s Office, of the Traffic Department.

The focus was on technical and mechanical checks for the condition and suitability of buses and trucks found driving on the roads in the province of Famagusta.

At the same time, documents of vehicles as well as documents of professional bus and truck drivers were checked.

During the inspections, the fitness certificates of eight vehicles were revoked, which were deemed unfit for road use.

Additionally, the following traffic violations were identified and reported:

  • 58 complaints for exceeding the speed limit
  • 35 complaints for uncovered or overloaded cargo
  • 52 complaints for driving without a circulation permit or fitness certificate
  • 20 complaints for the absence of protective bars
  • 10 complaints for driving deleted, immobilized, or unregistered vehicles
  • 220 complaints for various other traffic violations

Daily traffic checks continue by the Police, always aiming to prevent serious and fatal road accidents, increase safety on the road network, and cultivate and reinforce road awareness.
