“The Seashell” on Parekklisia beach

Relevant News

The Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company has installed a sculpture titled ‘The Seashell’ on Parekklisia beach.

The new sculpture is a creation of the Cypriot sculptor Yiota Ioannidou and depicts a girl holding a seashell to her ear, listening. It stands at a height of 140 centimetres and is made of bronze, placed on a rock base from the area.

The artwork symbolises the relationship between people and the sea, where the sea narrates secrets and stories from the depths of time. It aims to upgrade the coastal front of greater Limassol.

The sponsor of the project is Alexandros Jiang, a prominent businessman from China who permanently resides and operates businesses in Cyprus.

“Jiang engages in significant philanthropic work and is a lover of art, supporting local artists,” a press release by the Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company said.

The entire effort was made with the substantial support of the Parekklisia Community Council.

The Limassol Tourism Board has already replaced benches and bins along the sea-side walking path, added outdoor gyms on many beaches of the area and with this installation, created an Instagrammable point with one of the most popular beaches of Limassol in the background.
