Tamasos clergy face synod questions

Relevant News

The investigatory committee of the Holy Synod has summoned officials and clergy from the Tamasos Bishopric to testify about everything they know regarding the scandal involving the Habakkuk Monastery.

Five to six individuals from the Bishopric are expected to testify before the committee.

Among other things, they are expected to provide explanations and answers not only generally and vaguely about what they know and what came to their attention since the case began but also about contentious reference points, such as the evening of the transfer to the Monastery of Saint Habakkuk to collect the safe.

Some of the clergy or even employees of the Tamasos Bishopric went to the monastery in person with the aim, as claimed by the side of the bishop of Tamasos, to secure the property of the Bishopric since the monastery falls under its jurisdiction.

Certainly, they are also expected to be questioned about whether they know anything about the sexual offences against the monks, according to the allegations of bishop Isaiah.

Meanwhile, the investigatory committee has already examined some of the testimonies given in writing in recent days and, as reported by Philenews, has compiled a list of clarifying questions or gaps that require clarification.

In this context, it requests supplementary explanations from the witnesses.

As evident from the above actions of the investigatory committee, obviously, the monks under accusation will be called last to answer to the full spectrum of material that will have been gathered by then.
