Police on Monday arrested a 46-year-old man in connection with the serious injury of 23-year-old AEL Limassol basketball forward Corey Manigault from the United States.
Manigault has been hospitalized with brain hemorrhage and hematoma following injuries he sustained during a violent altercation that took place in the early hours of Sunday outside a Nicosia nightclub.
The arrested man could be charged with attempted murder, police also said.
In an announcement, AEL club said Manigault is currently out of danger but remains on a respirator and is still in serious condition.
Manigault’s girlfriend and his teammate Brandon Averette were also injured in the incident. They suffered cuts and abrasions on various parts of their body and are out of danger.
