Police in Limassol have made a second arrest in connection with a case of EAC copper cables theft earlier this week outside the village of Kantou.
A 49 year old man was arrested last night and remanded in custody, following witness testimony that places him at the scene of the crime.
On Friday, authorities had arrested a 33 year old, who was remanded in custody for four days.
An EAC technician reported the theft on Tuesday, saying that 1,400 metres of aerial copper cables had been stolen, with six pylons cut down.
The Episkopi and Lania police stations are investigating.
Cable and wire theft is on the rise across the country, as perpetrators hope to make fast money from the illegal sale of copper.
