President’s meetings with party leaders aim to establish wider consensus

Relevant News

Now that parliamentary elections are over President Nicos Anastasiades on Monday and Tuesday meets with the island’s party leaders in a bid to establish channels of communication with as many political forces as possible.

This is what Philenews reported on Monday, adding that the bet now for the government is the issues of much-needed pending reforms.

Reforms, however, are subject to consensus and cooperation within the Parliament, so that corresponding majorities for the approval of bills can be formed.

Especially for hot issues such as reform of the public service and the judiciary, local administration, and that of the battle against corruption.

The most important issue for the Government is to be able to make best use of the €4.4 billion of the “Cyprus of Tomorrow” project – most of which is directly related to much-needed reforms.

Specifically, the plan includes a total of 58 reforms, of which 23 are already under debate in parliament.
