Over 2,900 students vote in University of Cyprus election

A tense election unfolded yesterday at the University of Cyprus, where the two major factions vied for the top spot with a margin of 119 votes, ultimately securing an equal number of seats.

However, Proodeftiki was the clear winner, managing to increase its seats by one compared to last year, while the Protoporia lost one seat.

According to the results, more than 2,900 students exercised their voting rights within the University of Cyprus yesterday.

Protopori emerged as the top faction with 1,348 votes, reducing its percentage to 45.83% from 49.15% last year and losing one seat, as it secured 9 seats instead of the 10 it had last year.

Following closely is Proodeftiki with 1,229 votes, boosting its percentage to 41.79% from 37.98% last year, increasing its seats by one from 8 to 9.

Next in line with one seat each are Epalksi with 146 votes and the same percentage as last year (4.29%), the Anagenisi faction with 112 votes and a loss of one percentage point (3.81%), and the Agonas faction with 106 votes and a decrease of 0.07 points (3.60%).
