October rainfall is already at 112% of the average for the whole month,the Meteorological Service said on Monday.
According to the Meteorological Service, the average rainfall for October is 32.7 mm, however, this year rainfall is already is at 36.7 mm.
The biggest increase is recorded at Platania, with the rainfall there standing at 543% of the average for the time of year. Specifically, the Meteorological Service station at Platania has recorded 254.9 mm of rainfall, with the average being 46.9 mm.
To compare, the total rainfall recorded at Limassol, Nicosia, Larnaca and Paphos airport stations combined is at 37.9 mm.
The area with the second biggest rainfall is Prodromos, with 164.7 mm, a 350% increase from the average for the time of year (47.1 mm).
Less rainfall in cities
Nevertheless, the figures show that – excluding Nicosia – rainfall in all cities is alarmingly lower than the average for the time of year.
Specifically, rainfall in Limassol is at 1.2 mm with the average being 25.0 mm, rainfall in Larnaca is at 6.2 mm with the average being 19.0 and in Paphos is at 5.8 mm with the average being 31.0.
Total recorded rainfall in Nicosia is at 24.7 mm. The average for the time of year is 22.0 mm.
