A 43 year old man is under arrest on suspicion of breaking into a house in Peyia, stealing household appliances and driving off with the owner’s car.
The arrest of the man, a foreign national, follows a complaint made by the 75 year old owner of the house. She said that between February 4 and 7, as she was abroad, her housed was broken into. She said a number of appliances and her car were stolen.
Peyia police investigating the break in obtained testimony against the 43 year old Paphis resident and obtained an arrest and a search warrant.
They tracked him down at his house last night where they found the keys of the car, which was parked outside the house next door.
They also found a large number of the appliances which resembled those reported as stolen for which the suspect could not give adequate explanation as to how they came to be in his possession.
He was arrested and is expected to appear in court to be remanded in custody.
