Limassol carnival parade yields 43 tons of waste [PHOTOS]

Relevant News

The Makarios Avenue in Limassol was left in a bad shape following the completion of the grand carnival parade last Sunday.

The city’s main thoroughfare, after the parade, was handed over to the Limassol Municipality’s Cleaning Service, where 43 tons of carnival waste were cleaned up until late Sunday night.

The light rain that started just before the parade ended, combined with tons of confetti, spray, streamers, and other items, made the work of the municipality’s workers even more difficult.

Shortly before 6:00 pm, the municipality’s cleaning crews got to work, deploying 50 personnel in an effort to deliver the city as clean as possible, which they accomplished.

The municipality’s crews collected 43 tons of garbage, with tons of confetti literally covering the entire road surface, while confetti, combined with spray and foam, stuck to the ground due to the rain.

Once again, excessive use of such items is recorded, with floaters, after covering some distance, being decorated with the use of spray.

This year’s Limassol Carnival records the highest participation in recent years, as over 30,000 carnival-goers paraded and 120 groups participated along with floats from the Limassol Municipality.
