Limassol is among 23 European cities recognised by the European Commission for its ambitious plans to achieve climate neutrality by 2030.
The EU Mission Label acknowledges the city’s commitment to a greener future and unlocks access to crucial funding to make it happen.
The award ceremony took place at the EU Research & Innovation Days, highlighting Limassol’s place at the forefront of innovation in sustainability.
Limassol joins a group of European cities leading the charge in reducing CO2 emissions and creating a cleaner, healthier urban environment.
The EU’s commitment extends beyond the label. Cities like Limassol will benefit from increased financial and technical support, including nearly €19 million in additional advisory services from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
A dedicated “Cities Mission Capital Hub” will also be launched later this year, providing further guidance on project development, financing solutions, and connecting cities with potential investors.
