Health minister announces funding plan for hospital upgrades

Relevant News

In June, the disbursement of state grants to hospitals in Cyprus, both public and private, will commence for those wishing to proceed or have already initiated the accreditation process.

As Health Minister Michalis Damianos stated, “a Government Grant Provision Plan for Private and Public Hospitals with the aim of Accreditation has been approved.”

The Plan, as Damianos mentioned, “envisages providing incentives in the form of government grants to private and public hospitals for upgrading the quality of health services provided through the implementation of standards and their accreditation by competent authorities.”

The total cost of the Plan, covered by the Recovery and Resilience Plan, amounts to €2.5 million.

From this, 51 hospitals will benefit, and “the disbursement of grants will commence this coming June.”

It is reminded that accreditation is also one of the quality criteria considered by the Health Insurance Organisation in determining the compensation amount for hospitals in the General Health System.
